Fiestas San Blas... part 2...

.... continued from part 1 ....
Saturday 9th September:
20,30 h. – Misa en la Iglesia. A continuación PROCESIÓN y EMBARCACIÓN de nuestros SANTOS y al finalizar exhibición FUEGOS ARTIFICIALES.
Mass in the church followed by the procession from the church down to the harbour where the icons are brought aboard the fishing boats and a circuit of the harbour takes place.  The icons are then brought ashore to witness a giant firework display launched from the harbour wall and across the sea itself to the other shore.

24,00 h. – VERBENA amenizada por las ORQUESTAS SENSACIÓN GOMERA y DELICIOSA.
After the firework display is over and the 'Saints' have returned to the church, various restaurants giving miniature firework displays in homage to the 'Saints' as they pass makes this a slow process, there is dancing until about 5am, sideshows, rides and generally as much as you can eat and drink.

Believe it or not after all that partying over the last four days and nights everyone is up on Sunday morning:
12,00 h. – SANTA MISA en el Muelle de Los Abrigos
A continuación OFENDA FLORAL en homenaje a los desaparecidos en el mar.

The procession from the church is repeated but this time the service takes place on the quayside before the 'Saints' board the boats again. Floral tributes are launched into the sea and this time the whole flotilla sails to the boundaries of Los Abrigos calling in at the San Blas bay where the cave is situated in which a fisherman was first blessed by the Saint and his non-existent catch improved so that he could feed his family.

14,30 h. – GRAN PAELLADA en el Muelle  - the grand paella, prepared on the quayside is served to the village.

This is followed by ....

16,00 h. – JUEGOS ACUÁTICOS

Literally an aquatic sports afternoon with swimming and rowing competitions, greasy pole and other games of skill. Some took part, some watched and some just swam or just messed about on the river?

... of course this is followed that night by another oportunity to dance until the early hours ....
23,00 h. – BAILE amenizado por la ORQUESTA WAMANPY

Dia 10, Lunes  - Monday the final full day of the fiestas ....

16,00 h. – PARTIDO DE FÚTBOL entre solter@s y casad@s - a football match between the marries and singles (basically men against the youth teams)

18,00 h. – En el muelle GRAN PAPADA y FIESTA de la ESPUMA amenizada por la ORQUESTA KIMBARA. = a bouncy castle, slide and foam machine set up on the 'solarium' area of the harbour where the children and teenagers enjoyed themselves until the sun went down entertained by the music of the band which later played in the plaza until about 02.30 am when the fiesta closed for another year.

23,00 h – ENTREGA DE TROFEOS y BAILE con ORQUESTA KIMBARA. - the trophies for winners of the various competitions were awarded prior to the dance.

Tuesday saw the decorations come down, the rides and stalls pack up and move off, a bit like after Christmas when everything has been so bright.
