Cambuyón at the Auditorio Infanta Leonora

Bus Route: 483[Los Cristianos, Las Americas]
Return; 483[El Madino]

A tasty meal of 'Tapas' in the sunshine prior to the performance which lasted for nearly two hours, what more can one ask for. I am always concerned that I may not follow the plot but there was very little 'conversation', the performers use vocal sounds to portray their message either as an accompaniment to the action or to create an atmosphere in keeping with the visual performance. The translation from the back of the programme says it all:

CAMBUYON is a percussive dance show and urban areas where it follows the cultural tour of rhythms, their encounters mergers and mixtures.

Seven characters on a ship traveling through time and space sharing knowledge, experience and above all rhythm. Dancers tap, hip-hop and body percussion, singers and musicians take us together in this journey through the recent history ofWestern pace.

The Cambuypn was also a way of life, an activity born the nineteenth century, when large ships anchored in the ports of the Atlantic Islands and the Canary Islands or Madeira and local merchants flocked to the ships to exchange goods. During the 40 and 50 of the last century also became one of the few VFAs communication with the outside gate in theculture of a closed society to the world despite being a strategic port. From Africa and Europe to America, returning to Europe and becoming universal, we address the different rhythms are part of the prevailing global culture.

CAMBUYON sample travel, meetings and off tota | mind mixed with the clear intention of entertaining the viewer through the strength and importance that the pace has on human life.

All this is possible qracias team ae top international performers to ban compani'asformed as MAYUMANA CAMUT Brodas BAND OR TEREKITETAP.

On returning to Las Abrigos the 'Pirates of the Carribean' was in full action packed display on a large screen set up in the village square as part of the 'Oxygene 2012' festival. Unfortunately it was in Spanish but I could still enjoy the action as I enjoyed a beer.
