Bus Routes: 470[Granadilla] to El Medano and Granadilla, 416[Playa Americas] to San Miguel Return: 416[Granadilla], 470[Los Cristianos] to San Isidro and Los Abrigos Feast of the Cross, El Medano, 2012 On the 3rd May each year many towns and villages in Tenerife decorate the cross outside the church, if they have one, with flowers otherwise crosses are made up and decorated and placed in front of the building. I noticed this when I went into El Medano the following day which prompted me to do a little travelling to see if I could find some more. Eventually I found this item under 'Feast of the Cross in Wikipedia: In the  Gallican  usage, beginning about the seventh century, the Feast of the Cross was celebrated on May 3, and called "Crouchmas" (for "Cross Mass") or " Roodmas ". 416 to Granadilla thro San Miguel

Bus Route: 483[Los Cristianos], 416[Granadilla], 470[Los Cristianos] round trip. View my '416 to Granadilla' Photo Album Hello to all you snowbound folks back home, you will be pleased to know that they have it bad in Spain too but no rain here yet so no snow on the mountains. It has been very windy here for the last week, appears to be dying down now, so there have been 'Orange flag' warnings all along the coast. This did not stop them enjoying themselves with parachutes, probably helped so have included an update to the Costa Adej...

View my Granadilla de Abona Photo Album Bus Route: 470 [Granadilla], Return 470 [Los Cristianos] As the 470 starts or ends in Granadilla (pronounced Granadiya) de Abona and Los Abrigos is about half way along the route between there and Los Cristianos; I thought that this would be an easy journey to try out after spending a few days just 'chillin' either on the beach or sipping coffee and reading my Kindle books in one of the many cafe/bars in the village centre. I decided on a leisurely start so caught the 470 at about 12:30 (they use the 24 hour clock here) from the opposite side of the road because you have to remember that they drive on the right here and I have confused myself several times over direction of travel, especially with the motorway stops.  Waited about 50 minutes for the bus - start and finish times seem precise but the bits in the middle tend to be guesswork! An interesting thing about the buses is that pushchairs, prams, trolleys and cases are...
