Mariachi and the week that was...

 My sister was out visiting for a week and, just to prove that Titsa buses can be used by all we went to Santa Cruz, Los Cristianos and El Medano. The final trip was up to Garachico through Iod de Vinos so that she could see the mountains and the forests too. After looking around the fort and the old town and lunch of course we hopped on the bus to Buenavista del Norte before returning to Icod and still had time to look around the church and its museum (which I missed last time) before catching the bus back home. Quite a day! No photos - she's shy.
Back in Los Abrigos the Mariachi 'Chasna' entertained us all tonight (Saturday) courtesy of the council. I have added the photos to the Los Abrigos album and attached them here.

After taking the photos I sat in the back row (again seats provided by the council) to watch the show which lasted over an hour. I must admit I was nervous in case he picked on me to sing but I managed to escape without embarrassment.

I accepted voluntary redundancy at the end of August 2011 and used the small payout to purchase a good laptop, a reasonable digital (DSLR) camera and a Kindle with GPS. I hadn't taken photos for years and as I was about to move around I had decided that the Kindle would replace my collection of books I was always going to read. The next question was "What to do next?" A friend of mine had been telling me to visit Tenerife for years so I thought why not! Los Abrigos - my base

Having arrived and settled in to my apartment it was time to explore the village I had adopted for the next 12 months. First of all I took some photos from the windows as, true to their word, I couldn't get much closer to the sea. The taxi from the airport had dropped me at the top of the village square and I had walked down to meet David from Los Abrigos Properties (he has since sold the business) who had arranged to meet me at noon as I had picked one of the many 'public holidays' to arrive on. Los Cristianos - Burial of the Sardine

Bus Routes: 483[Los Cristianos, P Americas Est] to Los Cristianos. Return: 111[Santa Cruz] to Las Chafiras then taxi home. As you can see from the first photograph in the album I was not alone when I caught the 18:31, which actually arrived at 18:45, to Los Cristianos!  We arrived in ample time for the start of the procession at the 'Cultural Centre' where the 'Sardine' had been lying-in-state.
